Matthew Jellicoe - Founder, OnePlanetCapital
After a corporate career in public companies, Matthew founded and successfully exited two technology businesses in 2012 and 2018 respectively. He has been an active technology investor since 2012 and serves as a Non-Executive Director for two technology businesses. In more recent years he has specialised in sustainable investments. Matthew holds an Executive MBA from London Business school.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your role?
The best part of working for OnePlanetCapital is knowing that we are going to have a big impact on climate change and the environmental issues of the day. It's great working in a business where your conscience is aligned with what you are doing day-to-day.
How do you see your role changing in the next 3-5 years?
Our first fund is 2021-22, we have a great pipeline of businesses, some of which we are already invested in. However, in 3 to 5 years we are going to see some of those businesses become huge and I hope we can follow them on this journey. I would like to see our deal sizes getting into 7 figures in 5 years time.

What makes your firm stand out?
We are one of the only EIS Funds focused on Climate Change. We believe we can create impact alongside strong investor returns as the world pivots to a low carbon economy.
What is one thing you would like advisers/investors to know about your firm?
I have been an entrepreneur for 15 years and founded and sold 3 businesses. So I know the discipline of having an objective and doggedly pursuing it. This is also the DNA I share with all entrepreneurs. As the famous Churchill quote goes ‘if you are going through hell, keep going!’.
Whom do you professionally admire?
Terry Smith – the Fund Manager. Love his frank views and the way he does things differently. And he lives in Mauritius!
